Pawan Kalyan Advocates for World-Class Zoo Parks in Andhra Pradesh


Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has decided to revamp the zoological parks in Visakhapatnam and Tirupati by asking officials to bring about a change of international standards in them. During the 14th governing body meeting of the Zoo Park Authority of Andhra Pradesh, at his Mangalagiri residence, Kalyan pressed for a comprehensive action plan that would attract more visitors and help in the better maintenance and generation of revenues from these two parks.

As an honorary president of Zoo Park Authority, and in-charge of Forests and Wildlife Department, Pawan Kalyan has called for adopting eco-friendly activities to attract more visitors. He suggested that funds for the development of these zoo parks should be mobilised on the PPP mode. He recommended rare and exotic animals could be procured through animal exchange programme to add variety to the parks.

“Our aim is to offer the best wildlife experience to the visiting public,” Pawan Kalyan said. He asked the officials to involve corporate companies in the developmental process by utilizing Corporate Social Responsibility funds for this purpose. He appealed to corporates and entrepreneurs to adopt animals and donate towards the growth and development of zoos.

He suggested that special meetings be held in Visakhapatnam and Tirupati for propagating these programmes. Pawan Kalyan has also proposed a programme titled ‘Tea with the Deputy Chief Minister’ to elicit the participation of corporates and entrepreneurs in the development process.

He also directed the officials to prepare a report regarding the feasibility of opening new zoological parks in different zones of the state. This proactive approach shall help extend the outreach of zoological conservation and education to every nook and corner of Andhra Pradesh.

Later, Pawan Kalyan met the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board and wanted better accessibility and closer interaction with the public. He wanted two hours every day, from 3 pm to 5 pm, solely to accept and address petitions from the public.

On the other hand, the vision and directives that Pawan Kalyan has accorded are to make these zoo parks of Visakhapatnam and Tirupati rank at par with international standards in wildlife conservation and tourist management.
