The Hyderabad High Court has issued key orders regarding the demolition of illegal constructions in Hyderabad. The court has initiated a hearing on a petition challenging the continuation of the Hyderabad Development Authority (Hydra), which seeks its cancellation. The petitioner argued that the issuance of Hydra orders contradicts the GHMC Act and requested the court to revoke Hydra’s legitimacy.
In response to the petition, the court has directed the Telangana government to file a counter-affidavit. The High Court has postponed further proceedings for two weeks.

During the hearing, the High Court expressed serious dissatisfaction with Hydra’s actions. The court questioned how demolitions could be carried out without notices or explanations and demanded clarification on GO 99. The court also noted that despite interim orders, certain structures in Ameenpur were demolished, leading to the court’s remarks.
Meanwhile, Hydra has continued its work by demolishing illegal constructions within the lake’s limits, including those around Tummadi Kunta and the Appa Cheruvu.
