Former BJP MLA Poornima Srinivas joined Congress party in the presence of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and KPCC president and Minister DK Shiva Kumar. She represented Hiriyur constituency in the last Assembly as BJP MLA. But lost in the 2023 Assembly elections.
Poornima Srinivas took the step to join Congress party, as she is eying MLC ticket for her husband Srinivas in the upcoming Assembly elections. She is said to have miffed with Karnataka BJP leadership for neglecting her.
“I have joined Congress without any expectations. I have full confidence in the leadership of CM Siddaramaiah and DK Shiva Kumar,” said Poornima after joining the Congress party.
Poornima Srinivas is the daughter of late leader A Krishnappa. He was one of the powerful leaders of Congress in Karnataka. He has served as Minister and was considered one of the tallest leaders from the BC community. Poornima Srinivas joined politics, continuing her father’s legacy. Her joining Congress party is expected to strengthen the grand old party further in Karnataka.
