The Congress party informed ECI that its leader Rahul Gandhi was given a total of Rs1.40 crore to contest the Lok Sabha election 2024 from two seats – Wayanad and Raebareli (Rs 70 lakh each for Wayanad and Raebareli)

Rahul Gandhi was given Rs 70 lakh each for contesting the general elections from Wayanad and Raebareli, the party said. The only Congress candidate to get the higher amount was Vikramaditya Singh, who was given Rs 87 lakh from Congress party fund but he lost the election from Mandi seat in Himachal Pradesh to B Town actress Kangana Ranaut of BJP.

Samajwadi Party handed over Rs 60 lakh to Akhilesh Yadav and Rs 72.15 lakh for his wife Dimple Yadav to fight from Kannauj and Mainpuri respectively.

Trinamool Congress gave Rs 75 lakh each (or a total of Rs 36 crore) to all its 48 candidates in Assam, West Bengal, and Meghalaya while DMK gave Rs 70 lakh each (total Rs 15.40 cr) to all its 22 candidates in Tamil Nadu.

In the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi won from both Raebareli and Wayanad seats. However, Gandhi retained his Raebareli and gave up Wayanad, in a way facilitating Priyanka Gandhi Vadra political debut.
