The ACB apprehended Pulluri Raju, a resident of Itikyala Village in Raikal Mandal, Jagtial district, on Friday night. The latter was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs.10,000 from Gaddam Rajender Reddy of the very village of Itikyala. These activities in this case were reportedly carried out according to the instructions of SI Ajay.

Demands and Offenses

Now, SI Ajay has reportedly demanded a bribe for an official favour: that of releasing the complainant and his tractor driver on station bail. They were to be issued notices under Section 41(A) of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) in connection with a sand theft case. This case was registered under Section 379 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 21 (1) of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act.

ACB Recovered Tainted Bribe Amount of Rs.10,000 from Raju’s Possession

According to reports by the ACB officials, the tainted bribe amount of Rs.10,000 was recovered from Raju’s possession. The chemical test on Raju’s hands in the course of investigation revealed the presence of the bribe money. It was further brought out that SI Ajay had already accepted Rs15,000 as a bribe from the complainant earlier. Ajay, later, asked for an additional Rs.10,000, which was accepted through Raju.

Legal Proceedings

Following these developments, ACB officials said that Ajay, in collusion with Raju, had done his duty improperly and dishonestly to obtain undue advantage. Raju was presented before the special court for ACB cases in Karimnagar. The court later remanded him to judicial custody.

Conclusion

The case shall enlighten the on-going efforts of Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau to purge the police department of corruption. Quite often, ACB appeals to citizens to come forward and report such incidents in order to safeguard integrity and transparency in the system.
