Rail Roko Case: Minor Relief for KCR.

In a significant relief for BRS leader KCR, the High Court has stayed the proceedings against him in the rail roko case. The court has issued notices to the respondents and adjourned the case to the 18th of next month.

The case against KCR was registered in the court of public representatives based on allegations that he called for a rail roko as part of the Telangana movement. KCR filed a petition in the High Court seeking to dismiss the case. The case was registered based on a report from the Malkajgiri police under the jurisdiction of the Cyberabad Commissionerate, naming him as an accused.

Following KCR’s call, BRS President Kavitha and 40 of her followers sat on the railway tracks, severely disrupting train services and the duties of railway employees. A case was registered against them for causing these disturbances.

Along with Kavitha, 14 others were taken into custody and produced in the railway court. The rest went into hiding. In his petition, KCR mentioned that the court had separated the case, showing him and another person as absconding. The public representatives’ court assigned a number to the charge sheet in 2023 and began proceedings. KCR stated that he did not call for the rail roko and that the case was based solely on some provided evidence, arguing that it was inappropriate to pursue the case against him. Former CM KCR urged the High Court to dismiss the case pending in the lower court.
