Janata Dal (Secular) Party received a shock on Monday, as its senior leader and MLA SR Srinivas resigned for MLA post. He represented Gubbi constituency in Karnataka Assembly.
SR Srinivas was one of the top leaders of Janata Dal Secular and even served as Minister. He is a fourtime MLA and has been undefeated in his political life till now. Though Assembly term has almost completed, resigning of a senior leader like him will put JDS in an embarrassing situation.
The reason for SR Srinivas’s resignation is said to be his rift with JDS president HD Kumaraswamy. The two leaders were so bitter about each other, Kumaraswamy had even suspended SR Srinivas from the party earlier. Kumaraswamy even complained that SR Srinivas was responsible for Deve Gowda’s defeat in Tumakuru in 2019 Loksabha polls.
