In the second T20I of the 3-match series on Sunday, Suryakumar Yadav scored a spell-binding knock of 111 runs against New Zealand in just 49 balls. Indeed, Suryakumar beats the record of Virat Kohli and acquired a unique feat in the shortest format of the game. For his excellency, Suryakumar Yadav was also named as the Player of the Match for India and this is the seventh time in the history of T20 cricket that Suryakumar was named so, in 2022.
Only Sikandar Raza has had as many Player of the Match in International Cricket. Suryakumar would also have the opportunity to cross Sikandar’s tally in the 3rd and final T20I of the series against the New Zealanders on Tuesday.
During the post-match presentation ceremony, Suryakumar said, “The plan was clear when I went to bat. At the 12th/13th over, we thought about batting deep and getting around 170-175 was a par score. Secret behind his freak shots is about the intent and you need to enjoy yourself. It’s also about the work you do in the practice sessions. It’s a great feeling coming here, having a full game and going 1-0 in the series feels good. I feel that I didn’t think too much about what was happening. Just had my gameplan and it worked well. Fantastic crowd here.”
