On the fourth death anniversary of the legendary playback singer SP Balasubramanyam, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin made a significant announcement yesterday. This is somewhat a tribute considering his unparalleled contribution to Indian music and other arts.

The Chief Minister’s office press release called SPB a legend who left an all-time legacy behind because he was a multi-talented artist who, for more than five decades, had held the hearts of the people of Tamil Nadu through his melodious voice. He sang over 40,000 songs in more than one language and left an all-time mark not only as a playback singer but also as a music composer, actor, and performer.
