The ruckus started when Chamarthi Jaganmohan Raju snatched the scissors from TDP candidate Sugavasi Balasubrahmanyam of Rajampet while starting Anna Canteen.
The long-standing differences came to light in the opening ceremony of Anna Canteen. They not only shouted slogans against each other but also tried to attack. This created tension and the situation was resolved with the intervention of the police.
The police tried to stop members of Telugu Desam Party (TDP), who had planned to run the Anna Canteen, under One Town Police Station limits.

Anna Canteens, which were started by Chandrababu Naidu during his last tenure, were stopped by the YSR Congress Party-led government.
The altercation occurred between Chamarthi Jaganmohan Raju and Sugavasi Balasubrahmanyam, both claiming to be in charge of the local TDP unit.
Senior TDP leader Sugavasi Balasubrahmanyam came for the inauguration ceremony of Anna Canteen with his colleagues. Later TDP district president Chamarthi Jaganmohan Raju came there. The controversy started with his arrival. Balasubrahmanyam snatched the scissors from Jagan Mohan Raju’s hand. This led to a fierce fight between 2 groups.
