Telangana Victory Injects New Life Into Congress

With the Congress Party’s win in Telangana, there appears to be considerable excitement among its leaders at the moment. Focus has now turned to expanding the state cabinet, filling up nominated positions, and distributing important party posts. The leaders are awaiting the completion of these processes and are hoping for them to get finalized before the commencement of the upcoming Assembly sessions. However, because of disagreements over social equations and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s foreign tour, there have been some dilly-dallying instances.

Cabinet Expansion: Speculation Rages

With six ministerial positions lying vacant in the Telangana Cabinet at present, the road to getting these positions is keenly being contested among several leaders. The Chief Minister returned from a 13-day trip to the United States and South Korea, accompanied by his team, with an exclusive interest in investment opportunities. With his return to Hyderabad on August 14, Revanth Reddy is likely to be fully absorbed with governance matters from August 16 onwards. He would later leave for Delhi to debate issues relating to cabinet expansion and other important appointments before the party high command.

Key Leaders Lobbying for Ministerial Berths

Many leaders who are strongly canvassing for a place in the expanded cabinet are engaging in meetings. The recent ones were held between Revanth Reddy and Government Whip Adluri Laxman, Tungaturthi MLA Samuel, Manakondur MLA Satyanarayana, Nakrekal MLA Vemula Veeresham, and Jukkal MLA Lakshmikanth Rao of various social communities.

The list includes Ibrahimpatnam MLA Malreddy Rangareddy, who believes that he stands a strong chance of becoming the CLP leader since he is the only Congress MLA from the Greater Hyderabad region. Other aspirants include Munugode MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy and Devarakonda MLA Balu Naik, who will represent the ST community. The other contender is Bodhan MLA Sudarshan Reddy, who has experience as a minister. Gaddam Vivek, former MP and Chennoor MLA, is also trying for the cabinet berth by claiming his experience and support from the Mala community.
