Telangana High Court’s Shock to Malla Reddy

Telangana High Court's Shock to Malla Reddy

The Telangana High Court has delivered a blow to MLA Malla Reddy. It has issued orders to the state higher education department and the UGC to take legal action against the unauthorized Malla Reddy off-campus setup in Balanagar. The Malla Reddy University in Dhulapally established an off-campus center called the Center of Excellence for Commerce and Design in Balanagar without the necessary permissions. Opposing this move, Naveen Educational Society and others filed a petition in the High Court.

Justice C.V. Bhaskar Reddy recently took up the hearing. The petitioner’s lawyer argued that the off-campus center was set up without permission from the state government and the UGC. They stated that admissions for B.Com and B.Sc courses for the 2024-25 academic year were being conducted and requested the court to issue orders to halt them. Responding to this, Justice C.V. Bhaskar Reddy emphasized the need for UGC approval as per regulations. The judge expressed anger that the university did not receive the notices issued by the High Court and did not appear for the hearing.

The court ordered appropriate action to be taken against Malla Reddy University and its off-campus center for being constructed without permission. The next hearing was adjourned to July 24.
