Telangana is the preferred destination for many corporate entities to establish their units, stitch partnerships with the state directorate, and derive mutual benefits. Recently, Flipkart signed an MoU with Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP), the state to provide market access for Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) and Self-Help Groups (SHGs) products.
However, Telangana is the first state with which Flipkart stitched this partnership, Flipkart’s Vice President and head of the grocery. Flipkart said that they started this initiative 15 months back with three states but the response and commitment of the state government were influential. Things are well organized there and there is a lot of support from the administration.
Flipkart further said that they have increased their source network and business by 5 times in a short span of 15 months. The products sourced from Telangana are sent to many states and even abroad. The products sourced from farmers and SHGs are sorted, graded, and packed at these centers. Currently, there are 4 centers in the states, and based on the demand, more centers would be set up. Maximum employees working at these centers are local women.
