In a heartwarming incident, the woman conductor of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) bus showed unprecedented kindness by helping a pregnant woman who was in labor and making sure she delivered her baby safely. This is totally outside the ambit of official duties, but the conductor rose to the occasion and exhibited courage and humanity in that moment of crisis. The event occurred on Raksha Bandhan, which generally lends an added significance to the occasion. The conductor’s selfless act has earned him widespread appreciation from the public.

The story came to light after TSRTC Managing Director, V.C. Sajjanar shared the details on social media. “He posted a picture of the conductor holding the new-born baby and lauded her for her timely intervention. According to Sajjanar, the incident occurred on Monday morning on a Pallevelugu bus running on the Gadwal-Wanaparthy route. A pregnant woman, Sandhya, who was traveling to Vanaparthi to celebrate Raksha Bandhan with her brothers, suddenly experienced labor pains near Nachahalli.
Quick Thinking and Heroic Action
The bus conductor, identified as G. Bharathi from the Gadwal depot, quickly realized the situation. She did not hesitate to stop the bus and, with the help of a nurse who was also traveling on the bus, assisted in delivering the baby. A healthy baby girl was born to Sandhya inside the bus. Immediately after the delivery, Bharathi made arrangements for a 108 ambulance and sent the mother and baby to the nearby hospital. Both of them are reportedly in good health.

TSRTC MD’s Appreciation
TSRTC MD Sajjanar took to Twitter and congratulated conductor Bharathi on behalf of the corporation, also commending her for her presence of mind and quick response. He said that because of the presence of mind and timely intervention of Bharathi and with the assistance of the nurse, mother and the new-born are safe now. Sajjanar explained how, apart from safe transportation to their destinations, RTC employees still uphold strong social responsibility and service.
This will remain as a moment of humanity and compassion, and Bharathi’s act won her appreciation from every quarter and made her a real heroine in the eyes of the public.
