The research center established in Pulivendula stands as a testament to the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government’s negligence and waste of public funds. Originally launched with much fanfare, the “State-of-the-Art Central Testing Laboratory” became a financial drain, as it failed to serve its intended purpose. Despite the government spending ₹11 crores on this lab, critics highlight that it could not allocate ₹75 lakhs for a similar facility in Tirumala.
The Andhra Pradesh High-Level Animal Research Center in Pulivendula was inaugurated by Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy on November 9, 2023. This lab was intended to detect harmful chemicals in milk and dairy products, addressing allegations of adulteration that the YSRCP had previously made.

However, even after promising to appoint 15 experts, the lab remains inactive, with no progress on its stated goals of analyzing milk, food grains, and pulses, and conducting pharmaceutical application tests.
Additionally, a banana processing unit near Brahmanapalli was constructed with an investment of ₹20 crores and inaugurated by the Chief Minister six months ago. This facility boasts significant storage capacity and advanced amenities, yet it has yet to commence operations, leading to unpaid electricity bills reaching ₹49 lakhs. Despite its potential, the unit’s benefits have not materialized, with additional facilities for processing banana products remaining dormant since their inauguration in October of the previous year.
Overall, the public funds allocated to these projects have not yielded any practical outcomes, drawing criticism for the apparent mismanagement and lack of tangible benefits for the community.
