To get this answer, you have to watch the movie Thangalaan on silver screen.

Plus Points:

· Chiyaan Vikram

· Performances

· Casting

· Story

· Production values

· Cinematography

· Direction

Minus Points:

· Slow pace
· Sync sound

Performance: Vikram steals the show with his wonderful performances. He shows us how talented and committed he is, yet again. Whether it the emotional scenes or the action ones, Vikram makes the viewers feel every emotion he goes through. Parvathy as Gangamma is feisty. Parvathy and Pasupathy are excellent in their roles. Malavika Mohanan is good in her role. Daniel Caltagirone also gave a commendable performance. Rest of the cast justify with their roles.

Technical: The story of Thangalaan is interesting. Set in Kolar Gold Fields- KGF, the film is about how common citizens are oppressed by the landlords initially and eventually by the Britishers. The movie is great with the cinematography, set work and the editing being on point. The only factor rests with the director Pa Ranjith who could have definitely used his resources better had he had a compelling story in hand. BGM and songs are good. Pa Ranjith used sync sound, which is a major drawback. He doesn’t spare the British as well. GVP provides an international score to Thangalaan. Cinematography work is excellent. The production values are grand.

Analysis: Thangalaan is magical, mystical & powerful in its theme with epic performances by the actors. Chiyaan Vikram as Thangalaan who helps the white men to search for gold, shows off his fabulous performance throughout the film. Fans can freely go to the theaters to watch this film only for Chiyaan Vikram’s performance.

Thangalaan has a few missteps in terms of its pacing issues and has a few forced elements that it could have done away with, but still keeps the audiences engaged through the characters and the action sequences.
