Dashing cricketer-turned-sports administrator Sourav Ganguly, who is serving as BCCI president, will soon end his term as country’s cricket body chief. Though he tried for a second term as BCCI chief, his efforts did not succeed. With former cricketer Roger Binny, who is member of 1983 world cup winning team, entering fray, it is almost confirm that Ganguly’s term at BCCI is coming to an end.
Sourav Ganguly is considered one of the star cricketers India has ever produced and is extremely popular. Even after his retirement from cricket, he has been commanding the same popularity and is considered success even as cricket administrator. Though there were some controversial decisions, overall his performance as BCCI chief has been satisfactory. Inspite, he has been denied a second term.
The reason for Dada not getting a second term is, many feel he has not played to the tunes of BJP party. Amit Shah’s son Jay Shah is the secretary of BJP and BJP allegedly wants to control cricket in India through him. Obviously when independent and strong person like Sourav Ganguly is there, that will not happen. Therefore BJP top brass ensured that Ganguly does not get a second term. Trinamool Congress, the ruling party in Bengal accused BJP of humiliating Ganguly and backed Dada.
