Recently, heavy rains in Kerala caused landslides in Wayanad, resulting in numerous casualties and injuries. Many others were trapped under the rubble of collapsed buildings. Floods exacerbated the situation, with the elevated mountainous region making access difficult. The breaking of a stream further isolated the area. In these challenging conditions, Indian soldiers risked their lives to provide assistance.
They managed to temporarily bridge the stream and reach the village despite the continuous rain, mudslides, and lack of electricity. Operating in pitch darkness at night, their exact conditions and what they ate or where they slept remain unknown. Nevertheless, the soldiers worked tirelessly for 24 hours, rescuing many, facilitating relief efforts, and setting up arrangements for resettlement.
