The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) is gearing up to commence its campaign for the Munugode Assembly constituency byelection with a public meeting on the 25th of this month. The BJP has scheduled one on August 21, as Congress has held a meeting in Chanduru in the constituency last week. The Union Home minister Amit Shah is going to attend the meeting.
After the public meeting on August 25th, the TRS is expected to declare its candidate. According to sources, it is not clear if party president and chief minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao will grace this meeting. But he is attending meetings in two districts and they could be aimed at Munugode. There are also speculations that party working president K.T.Rama Rao and energy minister G.Jagdish Reddy, party in charge minister for Nalgonda district to organize the show.
When compared with the BJP and Congress, the TRS is adopting a low profile. The TRS leadership in the Nalgonda district is undertaking Operation Akarsh by luring local constituency leaders and cadres of the BJP and the Congress into its fold. For each village and Mandal, incharges have been appointed to lure Opposition sarpanches, ward members in Gram Panchayats, MPTCs, and ZPTCs on its side.
The chief minister will visit the Medchal-Malkajgiri district to launch the integrated collectorate complex and district office and chair a public meeting later. Party sources believe that the CM’s public meetings will highlight the achievements of 8 years of the TRS government and will indirectly contribute to the campaign for Munugode.
