According to the statement released by some political sources, the Telangana state government hiked reservations for the Scheduled Caste communities on Friday night from 6% to 10%. It is also said that the government orders would come into force on Saturday. The reservations would be applicable in educational institutions and government jobs in the state.
Previously, the government had issued a Bill in the Assembly and sent it to the Centre where it is still pending. The chief minister had announced the increase of reservations for the ST communities to 10% after launching the Adivasi and Banjara bhavans at Banjara Hills on September 18.
If the Centre did not accord assent to the reservations Bill, the reservations would be enhanced by a government order, said the chief minister of the state, K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
