Indian cricket sensation Virat Kohli bucks the trend, seeing a lot come into his pocket. Doing well in national and Indian Premier League cricket, he is also raking in millions by way of brand endorsements, restaurants, and clothes stores. And with all these high amounts coming into his pocket, eyebrows are raised on his contribution to paying taxes.
Recently, it was reported that Kohli paid a staggering ₹66 crore in taxes for the financial year 2023-24, making him India’s highest tax paying sportsperson. Among celebrities, Kohli was ranked fifth overall in the tax payment list, with Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan topping the list with ₹92 crore in taxes. Cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni is second in the list of top tax-paying sportspersons after Kohli with ₹38 crore. Noted names are batting great Sachin Tendulkar with ₹28 crore and Sourav Ganguly with ₹23 crore. Among the top ones are all-rounder Hardik Pandya and wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant, with ₹13 crore and ₹10 crore, respectively.
