The heroes of Tollywood have now set their eyes on the pan-India market, dealing with the release of films across multiple languages and not confining films to Telugu Cinema. They all seem to be busy making back-to-back movies targeted at a pan-India audience. Though most of the young heroes are faring well in the race, one young hero has relatively fallen back in this race. Though he had the potential to make his mark on the pan-India stage, he hasn’t been able to fully turn in a performance at that level.
When it comes to Tollywood star Vijay Deverakonda, an introduction perhaps should not be required. He became an overnight sensation with the film Arjun Reddy and was very soon at the top rank among stars in Tollywood. With half a dozen films since then, none have been able to gain the tag of a hit, barring Geetha Govindam, which created a tsunami at the box office and had brought him back on track. It is unfortunate that films like Liger, Kushi, and Family Star ended up as disasters bereft of the success he had anticipated. Due to these failures, Vijay Deverakonda has fallen into a tight spot with all of his recent films underperforming at the box office.

There was a time when the mere announcement of a Vijay Deverakonda movie got the Tollywood circle enthralled. But he has been failing to deliver a hit for quite some time now. Other actors like Nani, Ram, and Naga Chaitanya are slowly but surely increasing their market with one successful movie after the other, while it takes so much time for Vijay to come back. All that has come his way since last year simply doesn’t seem to have clicked, and now he treads very cautiously to reset his film career.
He has commenced work on a few projects, including VD 12 with Gautham, an action film with Ravi Kiran Kola, and a period film with Rahul Sankrityan. Out of this, one is already shelved, and another one happens to be a Rayalaseema mass-action film. Any of these upcoming films may turn out to be a chance for him to get his career back on the right track if it turns out to be a hit. Hopefully, Vijay Deverakonda will return to the success path and continue entertaining the audience in Tollywood with great films.
