The first Test match between India and Bangladesh is under way at the Chennai Chepauk Stadium. Elected to bowl after winning the toss, Bangladesh managed to get the Indian team out to bat early. From the very start, Bangladesh’s bowlers were such a nuisance to the Indian top-order batsmen that they could not appear either threatening or harmful. However, they did not manage to dispel the opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal. Following him, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja too did enough for India to come solidly together.
Yashaswi Jaiswal made a historic performance during this match. He scored 56 runs, making half-century runs on the Bangladesh tough bowling attack. So he was the first batter to cross over 750 runs in his first 10 innings in Test cricket history played at home. This surpasses the earlier record set by West Indies cricketer George Headley, who scored 747 runs way back in 1935. Jaiswal has now stormed the record book with 755 runs.
