In the midst of Jagan, facing brickbats from the opposition party for renaming the NTR Health University as YSR Health University, now, he is facing heat from his sister YS Sharmila, the president of YSRTP, for the same issue. She opines that Jagan’s decision is insulting crores of fans of the late TDP chief Nandamuri Taraka Ramarao.
She said her father YS Rajasekhar Reddy is a legendary leader and he did not need change in the names of some of the institutions, which were already named after any popular leader for the sake of increasing his status. She asked clearly that today this institution has been renamed after YSR. Tomorrow, another government may change the name. Will this not amount to insulting YSR?
She also said that no one has the status equal to YSR’s status at those times. When he demised, seven hundred people died immediately on shock. He doesn’t need somebody’s fame. These words have reached to Jagan and he has yet to give his reply to his sister.
Established in 1986, the Health University was named in 1998, after NT Rama Rao. With the passing of the Bill on September 21, the university has now been renamed after YS Rajasekhar Reddy.
