YS Sharmila has turned into a significant political adversary for Jagan, causing concern within the YSRCP ranks. Despite the YSRCP’s massive defeat, she hasn’t stopped targeting Jagan. Recently, she made shocking comments, stating that the YSRCP is a party that will eventually merge with Congress. This has added salt to the wounds of a party already reeling from defeat. On the other hand, there are reports that Jagan’s family is considering a plan to counter Sharmila’s comments effectively. It is said that Jagan is thinking of bringing his wife, Bharathi, into active politics to counter Sharmila. There is also speculation that Jagan has other calculations behind considering Bharathi’s political entry.
After avoiding tension during the MLC elections, Jagan appeared relaxed, resuming his satirical remarks on the alliance government. He expressed confidence that the public still remembers the good work done by his government and believes that they will return to power. However, while the alliance government is exposing the mistakes made by the previous YSRCP government, no one is significantly targeting Jagan. The YSRCP is not even recognized as an opposition party. Amidst this, PCC President Sharmila is filling that void, vigorously targeting Jagan and the YSRCP’s failures. Despite Jagan’s confidence in returning to power, Sharmila is making it clear that the YSRCP has no chance.

As the Congress state president, Sharmila is tearing apart the YSRCP and Jagan. During the last elections, she did everything possible to damage the YSRCP, especially concerning the Vivekananda Reddy murder case. Even after the defeat, she hasn’t let up and continues to target her brother Jagan personally while exposing the YSRCP’s failures. Despite the alliance being in power, she is only targeting the YSRCP, and no one in the party seems capable of facing her effectively. In the past, Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy used to counter her, but he has remained silent after the defeat.
Now, though Perni Nani has stepped in, he seems to fall short against Sharmila’s aggression. This has reportedly led Jagan to reconsider his strategy. He is said to believe that if they do not contain Sharmila, it could be disastrous for the party and challenging to strengthen the YSRCP. Therefore, Jagan is reportedly thinking of deploying his wife Bharathi to counter Sharmila. Jagan believes that if Bharathi, as the daughter-in-law of YS Rajasekhara Reddy and his wife, steps into the public sphere, she would be well-received by the people.

At a time when there is widespread speculation about Jagan looking towards the INDIA alliance, Sharmila has made some interesting remarks. She called the YSRCP under Jagan’s leadership a small canal that will eventually merge into the vast ocean of the Congress. Sharmila dismissed the speculation of the YSRCP joining the INDIA alliance and indirectly suggested that the party might merge with Congress, sparking interest in political circles. While she has made similar comments in the past, her recent reiteration has led to speculation about her motives. Sharmila’s remarks, which imply a YSRCP merger with Congress, have become a big debate in Andhra Pradesh political circles.
Her comments come at a time when the Congress is working on strategies to strengthen its position in Andhra Pradesh. In this context, the YSRCP is reportedly struggling to figure out how to counter Sharmila, who has been increasingly targeting Jagan. While a few leaders have tried to counter her, Sharmila has maintained the upper hand. This has reportedly led to extensive discussions within the YSRCP on how to deal with her criticisms. Jagan himself has not been in a position to respond to her attacks directly.

It is said that Jagan believes continued silence or inaction regarding Sharmila could harm the party. In the past, leaders like Roja, Vidudala Rajini, Thaneti Vanitha, and Pushpa Srivani, as well as Vasireddy Padma, who served as the Women’s Commission chairperson, have remained silent in response to Sharmila’s criticisms. This has led to speculation that Jagan is considering Bharathi’s political entry to counter Sharmila. Meanwhile, old cases against Jagan are resurfacing, with the illegal assets case and the Viveka murder case posing significant threats. The courts have ordered daily hearings in these cases, tightening the noose around Jagan.
If Jagan gets arrested, the party would need a leader to run it, which is why Jagan is reportedly preparing Bharathi. He believes Bharathi would be strong enough to face Sharmila and would be the right choice to take over the party leadership in his absence. With Vijayamma unlikely to side with Jagan, there is talk that he is fixed on bringing Bharathi to the forefront. We will have to wait and see what happens next.
