The Telugu Desam Party has committed to enter the upcoming Munugode Assembly by-elections scheduled to take place on November 3. The party high command is reportedly planning to field its state general secretary Ilaiah Yadav, progressing its tradition of promoting Backward Class leaders.
A meeting was chaired recently by the party president N. Chandrababu Naidu with Telangana state party leaders. The TD party believes that it is the right time to play an active role in Telangana state. The party has lost its fame in Telangana region because of TRS, after bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
The TDP is planning to regain its base in Telangana, with the ruling party under the new name Bharat Rashtra Samithi is foraying into national politics. As a matter of fact, the TRS, BJP and the Congress have fielded forward community candidates. The TDP is planning to field a BC candidate in Munugode, taking it as an advantage.
It is said by Ilaiah Yadav that only the Telugu Desam has opining to bring a BC candidate at Munugode. The party high command alerted us to be ready for the Munugode contest. Fielding a BC candidate will result in a long-standing discussion among people in the constituency and have an impact on the eventual voting pattern.
