As thousands of medical students coming back to India from Ukraine country that is damaged by war, there is a limited extent of irresolution over the accomplishment of their furtherance. In the present times, the Centre is helpless towards the career of the medical students to attain MBBS degree without extending the duration of course.
“There is an intermediary of around two years to complete the course, by preferring to the statutory regulations that belong to medical students who are graduating from foreign varsities. So that, students returning from Ukraine are no need to be on tenterhooks”, said the government sources.
Online medical courses wouldn’t be accepted by the National Medical Commission. Instead, a medical course from a foreign university has to be accomplished within ten years from the registered date as per statutory regulations. Moreover, the regulations don’t permit such students to resettle in Indian medical colleges for examinations and internships, and the regulations read that the MBBS training, course and internship throughout the course should be pursued from the same foreign medical academy.
According to sources, the MBBS course in Ukraine is termed for a period of five and half years. A student has to finish a one year internship in Ukraine and a similar one in India. So, a student completes the degree in a time span of seven and half years. That being the case, the final year students still have an intermediary for a couple of years.
