Vijayawada: Finally, the reorganization of new districts in Andhra Pradesh has been come into existence today, announced by the Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy during the auspicious time 9.05 am to 9.45 am, which was set by Vedic pandits. On Sunday, the final notification for the formation of new districts was promulgated by Sai Prasad who is the Special Chief Secretary to the government.
Prakasam district which contains 14,322 sqkm area and PSR Nellore district which consists of a 24.697 lakhs population emerged as the largest districts. Togetherly, both districts have eight constituencies and 38 mandals. While Alluri Seetharama Raju district has 3 constituencies only. Parvathipuram Manyam district is the smallest district with the smallest area of 3,659 sq.km and the least population of 9.253 lakhs.
Visakhapatnam was formed as a single urban district that has 11 mandals and a total population of 19.595 lakhs. And each district comprises a population of around 9.253 lakhs to 24.5 lakhs. Paderu is the district headquarters of the newly formed Alluri Seetharama Raju district, and it has Paderu and Rampachodavaram as the revenue divisions.
And the remaining districts have their respective revenue divisions and headquarters as mentioned in the final notification issued by the government yesterday. In spite of an extension in the number of districts in AP, the 13 Zilla Parishads in the state would progress. The AP directorate will take a decision on this after studying the divisions of ZPs.
Earlier, the AP govt wanted to have 26 Zilla Parishad governing bodies. According to Panchayatraj law, ZPs will remain in power for 5 years, once the elections were finished. Botsa Satyanarayana, who is the municipal administration minister said that there is no reformation of ZPs so far, and they would progress as usual and there would be no influence on councils with the recreation of districts.
