Recently Kammas in Telangana have formed as a Joint Action Committee (JAC) and met Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge demanding more Congress tickets for Kamma caste leaders in the Assembly elections. Their contention for more seats is, they form about 5 percent of population in Telangana and can influence election results in about 30 Assembly segments.
While this might appear like a tactic to get more tickets, political analysts feel that there is more to it than that meets the eye. It is said that Kammas are disappointed with BRS leadership for not condemning Chandrababu’s arrest. They are angry over KCR because, Telangana Govt did not even allow to hold protests by software engineers recently over Chandrababu’s arrest.
What has even more pained them was, KTR making a sarcastic statement on Chandrababu’s arrest. All these developments seem to have hurt Kammas and made them rally against BRS and in favour of Congress party.
