Gajendra Shekhawat, the Union Minister for Water and Resources has affirmed that the central government would sustain the whole cost of the Polavaram project which had been awaited for a long time. He promised that the project will be accomplished within a year by the central and state governments.
Shekhawat claimed, “The Polavaram project authority office would be relocated to Rajamahendravaram to clear the way for the delineations of the construction and emancipation of funds”. Assumed from the 2017-18 price index, the state authorities solicited the Union minister to allot Rs 55,548.87 crore to complete the project construction, and to append a drinking water project module.
On Friday, both the chief minister of AP Shekhawat have taken a fresh look at the construction works at the site in West Godavari district. As the release of funds on component basis is not boosting up works, Jagan requested Shekhawat not to release them on component basis.
He also solicited the Union minister to pay the compensation amounts to the victims through the Direct Benefit Transfer method. He asked Shekhawat to reassess the progress of the project for every 15 days. With the relocation of PPA office to Rajamahendravaram, there will be no issue of coordination problems and it will be easy to observe the construction over and over again.
