The rejection of two MLCs nominations by Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan has led to a political furore in Telangana. Tamilisai has rejected the candidatures of Dasoju Sravan and Kurra Satyanarayana to be nominated as MLCs under Governor quota. She said that both Dasoju and Kurra are not eligible to be nominated under Governor’s quota as they have no body of work in social service, literature, art and other fields to be considered under Governor quota. She added that both are also full time politicians doing active politics in the BRS party’s fold.
The rejection of Dasoju and Kurra’s candidatures for Legislative Council, has created a severe disappointment in ruling BRS circles. Senior BRS leaders, including IT Minister KT Rama Rao, have fired on Governor Tamilisai, saying that she is doing politics from Raj Bhavan. KTR found fault with Tamilisai Soundararajan for rejecting Dasoju Sravan and Kurra Satyanarayana’s nominations, who belong to the most disadvantaged sections. On the other side Union Minister and Telangana BJP president G Kishan Reddy supported Governor’s decision saying that she has done the right thing.
These developments once again brought CM KCR vs Governor Tamilisai differences to the fore. Interestingly just recently CM KCR has given a hearty welcome to Tamilisai while she visited the new Secretariat and personally showed her the new construction. With this bonhomie, everyone felt that the Governor will not reject any further Bills sent by the Telangana cabinet. According to the latest updates from BRS sources, it is said that CM KCR has decided to send the resolution requesting nomination of Dasoju and Kurra once again to the Governor for approval.
