A recent Christmas video featuring Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor and his family has stirred controversy, leading to a police complaint. Sanjay Tiwari, represented by lawyers Ashish Rai and Pankaj Mishra, lodged the complaint at Ghatkopar police station.
Tiwari’s objection stems from a segment in the video where Kapoor is seen pouring liquor on a cake, igniting it, and simultaneously chanting “Jai Mata Di.” Tiwari contends that such an act, which combines intoxication with a revered religious chant, has deeply hurt his religious sentiments.
The complaint underscores a perceived insensitivity towards Hindu religious practices, emphasizing the significance of invoking the fire god before other deities in Hindu rituals. Despite the uproar, no First Information Report (FIR) has been initiated as of now. The incident underscores the complexities surrounding cultural and religious sensitivities in public displays.
