BJP chief Devendra Fadnavis, announced Eknath Shinde as the new chief minister of Maharashtra, addressing the press conference after staking claim to form government in the state. Both Fadnavis and Eknath Shinde met Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari at Raj Bhavan where they staked a claim for government formation in Maharashtra.
Eknath Shinde alone will be sworn in at 7.30 pm today. The remaining ministers from the Shiv Sena and BJP and Independents will take oath on another day. Shinde expressed his gratitude to Fadnavis saying he was setting a big example for the state and the country.
Shinde said, “There are 50 MLAs who have issues and they approached me and told me that we tried but since there was no result we had to make a decision. The agenda is to complete the projects in the state and constituencies of the MLAs. Devendra Fadnavis says he will stay out of the Shinde government. 16 parties and MLAs have supported our move to join the government.”
