The recent statements by former minister and BRS leader Harish Rao shed light on a significant development regarding water management in the region. According to Harish Rao, there has been a notable shift in control over two crucial water projects, Nagarjunasagar and Srisailam, with both now reportedly under the jurisdiction of the Andhra Pradesh government.
During a heated debate in the Assembly regarding water exploitation, Harish Rao highlighted the transfer of control, emphasizing that while the Srisailam project was previously under AP’s control, the Nagarjunasagar project was managed by the Telangana government. However, he asserted that both projects are now firmly under the authority of the Andhra Pradesh government.
Harish Rao also drew attention to the continued presence of CRPF forces at the Nagarjunasagar project, suggesting ongoing discussions and negotiations between the AP government and relevant stakeholders regarding the transition of control. He indicated that the AP government has been actively pursuing the complete takeover of the Nagarjunasagar project for the past two months, underscoring the significance of this development in the broader context of regional water management and interstate relations.
