India is set to experience the future of urban mobility as InterGlobe Enterprises (IGE), the parent company of leading airline IndiGo, has partnered with Archer Aviation, a pioneering force in electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. This collaboration is slated to bring a groundbreaking all-electric air taxi service to the skies of India by 2026, with initial operations targeting key metropolitan areas such as Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru.
The memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between IGE and Archer Aviation is not just about introducing a new mode of transportation but is poised to redefine the urban commute. The envisioned service will offer a swift, cost-competitive travel option, reducing the time of a typical 27-kilometer journey from Connaught Place to Gurugram to a mere 7 minutes—a route that currently takes 60-90 minutes by road.
