Normal life has been hit in Bengaluru and other areas due to the Karnataka Bandh. Kannada organisations, farmers bodies have given call for the Bandh, over Cauvery row with neighbouring state Tamil Nadu. Kannada groups have been protesting against release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu. It is believed that even political parties are supporting the bandh.
As bandh call was given a week ago schools and colleges have been shut. Cabs and autos are also off-road in Bengaluru and other cities. However Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation buses are running. Bengaluru Metro Rail is also functioning. But due to Karnataka bandh more than 40 flights to Bengaluru have been hit.
The impact of bandh is mostly felt in the South Karnataka region. Besides capital city Bengaluru, bandh impact is also being witnessed in Mandya, Mysore and other areas. Shops, hotels, malls, and other official and commercial establishments have been shut. But essential services like hospitals, medical shops are unaffected by Karnataka bandh.
