Industries and IT minister of Telangana, K.T.Rama Rao has inaugurated Ferring Laboratories’ plant today. Ferring Laboratories set up its plant with an investment of Euro 30 million, adding to the list of marquee names present at the Genome Valley. During his discourse at the event, KTR said Ferring coming to Hyderabad is evidence of the presence of the life sciences ecosystem and the availability of quality manpower in the city.
He prolonged that the firm actually decided to set up the facility in Maharashtra but it chose Hyderabad, considering the aspects of the availability of talent and the dynamic and industry-friendly move of the Telangana directorate. Ferring is a research-driven, specialty biopharmaceutical group that concentrates on reproductive medicine and maternal health, and in specialty areas within gastroenterology and urology.
KTR said that other entities are also concentrating on reproductive medicine and maternal health, along with the Genome Valley cluster. A few days ago, Bharat Serums and Vaccines Global have announced to set up an injectable and vaccine manufacturing facility at Genome Valley with an investment of Rs 200 crore.
Genome Valley also consists of Jamp Pharmaceuticals. It is arranged to cater to solid oral dosage form, nasal delivery, powders, topical, and liquid oral pharmaceutical products for regulated markets. KTR said that the company will concentrate on biology, life sciences, and allied fields connecting with technology and data analysis. Telangana is working to double the life sciences sector from the present $50 billion to $100 billion by 2030.
Genome Valley is located in Shameerpet, Hyderabad. It has been recognized as a suitable destination for major R&D-focused life sciences firms in India. It has 150 entities and is regarded as the largest cluster of multi-tenanted lab space infrastructure in a single site.
