The most popular OTT platform Disney+Hotstar has set new subscription plans that are inexpensive and exist with ads in between. The distributors will launch these plans first in the US. And then, they will be announced in India.
The chairman of Disney media and entertainment distribution, Kareem Daniel said, “Elongating access to Disney Plus to a broader audience at a lower price is an accomplishment for advertisers, consumers and our storytellers. More consumers will be able to use our amazing content. Advertisers will be able to receive positive feedback from the audience, and our storytellers will be able to share their astounding work with more fans and families”. The platform will provide cheaper subscription plans than the ad-free genre which costs at Rs 610 per month at present.
Currently, Disney+Hotstar consists Premium and Super plans. Where the premium plan per month is priced at Rs 299, and per year, it costs Rs 1499. While the Super plan which exists for year priced at Rs 899. So far, Disney+Hotstar attained 5.9 million subscribers, whereas, Disney has 129.8 million subscribers.
The company claimed that it will offer its services to 42 countries and 11 new territories. By providing affordable subscription prices to users, the company targeted to gain 230-260 million subscribers by 2024.
