Time and again, the makers of ‘SPY’ are describing the movie as a national thriller. It doesn’t really make sense to call a film a “national thriller”. There are no non-national and anti-national thrillers out there.
By the term ‘National Thriller’, the makers mean to say that the film has got patriotic fervour coursing through its veins. ‘SPY’ is about tracing the mystery behind the disappearance of Subhas Chandra Bose, one of the most bravest freedom fighters.
It is safe to assume that the pan-India film will try to cater to the nationalistic sentiments prevalent among the Hindi audience. ‘Karthikeya 2’ clicked because of the Hindu cultural nationalist standpoint espoused subtly. Has Nikhil been advised to promote ‘SPY’ in a particular way so that the political mood prevalent in North India can be encashed?
