Pawan Kalyan Faces Legal Action Over Alleged Derogatory Comments

Pawan Kalyan, the leader of the Jana Sena Party, finds himself embroiled in controversy as a criminal case has been filed against him in Guntur for alleged derogatory remarks made against village and ward volunteers. The case, initiated by the fourth additional judge Sarath Babu, requires Kalyan to appear before the court on March 25, highlighting the seriousness of the allegations.

The accusations stem from comments reportedly made by Kalyan during a public rally in Eluru on July 9, 2023, where he allegedly disparaged the volunteers and cast aspersions on their integrity. Specifically, Kalyan’s reference to NCRB data regarding missing women from Andhra Pradesh and his insinuation that volunteers were involved in aiding anti-social elements in women trafficking have sparked outrage and led to legal action.

The Andhra Pradesh government, responding to the outcry, issued a Government Order (GO) on July 20, signaling its intent to pursue legal recourse against Kalyan for his remarks deemed as derogatory towards the volunteers. This development underscores the government’s commitment to upholding the reputation and integrity of its volunteer workforce, while also sending a clear message regarding accountability for public statements made by public figures. As the case unfolds, it remains to be seen how Kalyan will respond to the allegations and navigate the legal proceedings ahead.
