Team India captain and star batsman Rohit Sharma created history after he hit a sixer in the 8th over of India’s innings against Afghanistan on Wednesday. With this sixer, Rohit Sharma has rewrote cricket history books as the batsman with highest number of sixes in One Day Internationals.
The earlier record for highest number of sixes in ODIs in world cricket was in the name of West Indies star cricketer Chris Gayle. He was known for his powerful hits over the ropes and was considered as the most devastating batter. Chris Gayle hit 553 sixes.
While Gayle is known for power hitting, Rohit Sharma has a completely different batting style. He is known more for his stylish batting and excellent timings. By hitting 554th six in his career Rohit Sharma surpassed Chris Gayle.
