Union Minister Smriti Irani has got severe backlash on social media, after her misleading statement against Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra. While Congress scion Rahul Gandhi has embarked on Bharat Jodo Yatra, BJP leaders have been systematically targetting him one by one. As part of it, Smriti Irani took a dig at Rahul Gandhi’s yatra, speaking at a meeting. She tried to attack Rahul Gandhi saying, “Rahul Gandhi talks about uniting India through Bharat Jodo Yatra. He started his yatra from Kanyakumari. But he didn’t even pay respects to Swami Vivekananda.”
Soon after making this statement she got a backlash on social media. Many netizens posted video of Rahul Gandhi offering floral tributes to Swami Vivekananda during the start of his Bharat Jodo Yatra and found fault with Smriti Irani for spreading fake news and misinformation. Not just Congress supporters, but even general public expressed their displeasure over Smriti Irani’s behaviour of speaking falsities whenever she likes just for narrow political gains.
“Madam Smriti Irani, pls see the truth and then speak. You are Honourable Union Minister. Pls keep some dignity for it,” tweeted Congress MP and senior leader Manickam Tagore, responding on Smriti Irani’s words.
