Amid the economic adversities in Sri Lanka, the citizens of the country are pouring scorn on the government for deficiencies of long power cuts and essential goods. Besides this, the whole cabinet members of Rajapaksa have stepped down from their positions.
While there were reports that Prime Minister Mahindra Rajapaksa has resigned, the Sri Lankan PMO furnished a statement on Sunday, denying all reports of Rajapaksa’s resignation. Also, the son of PM Mahindra Rajapaksa, Namal Rajapaksa who is the minister of sports and youth affairs has resigned from all his portfolios.
Currently, India is providing its assistance to Sri Lanka for experiencing a crisis in food, fuel, power, gas and foreign exchange. On Sunday, many defied a curfew to take to the streets in several cities. A special notification banning anyone from being on any public road, in a park, on trains, or on the seashore unless they have written permission from the officials.
