Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has stirred controversy by inviting all legislators to inspect the Medigadda barrage following reports of damage and irregularities in its construction, amidst ongoing scrutiny of the Kaleshwaram irrigation project. Leading a delegation to the site, including Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Reddy aimed to address concerns over the structural integrity of the barrage, a vital component of the Kaleshwaram project on the Godavari River. The recent collapse of barrage pillars and findings from the Union Jal Shakti ministry and National Dam Safety Authority have cast doubts on the quality of construction during the previous BRS government’s tenure.
Opposition voices, notably from the BJP, have seized on Reddy’s initiative to demand stronger action, calling for accountability from the Congress government over alleged corruption in the Kaleshwaram project, particularly targeting KCR and his family. In response, KCR has dismissed Reddy’s visit as a political maneuver, pledging to personally inspect the site with BRS leaders to expose what he sees as the Congress government’s diversionary tactics.
