In a tragic incident at Burdwan railway station in West Bengal, an overhead water tank collapsed, resulting in the death of three people and injuries to at least ten others. The tank, situated between platforms 2 and 3, was reportedly old and possibly unable to withstand the load, causing it to fall onto the platform shed. This unfortunate event occurred around 12:10 pm on Wednesday.
The injured were swiftly transported to Burdwan Medical College and Hospital, with three of them reported to be in critical condition. Railway officials, along with RPF and GRP personnel and the state fire services department, were involved in the rescue operations. The incident has prompted an inquiry by the railways, and train services in the division were affected, though services on platforms 1 and 4 at the station have been resumed.
