The most anticipated biggest cricket tournament Indian Premiere League (IPL) has all set to begin from March 26. So, the respective teams are gearing up for practice ahead of it’s commencement. Sources said, the training for the tournament will be conducted from March 14 or 15 at 5 selected venues, viz., MCA ground in Thane, Dr DY Patil University ground, a football pitch, Cricket Club of India (CCI) and the Reliance Corporate Park Ground in Ghansoli.
The players will arrive in Mumbai on March 8. Today, the BCCI, the Government of Maharashtra and Mumbai Cricket Association have got together and discussed about the way of organising the IPL though the tournament is going to be held according to the new format.
After the conclusion of their forum, the minister of Maharashtra, Aaditya Thackeray tweeted, “To ensure the smooth flow of the @IPL, Minister @mieknathshinde ji and I conducted a joint meeting of IPL, @BCCI with officers of police and Municipal Corporations of Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai”.
As per the Covid protocols, all the players have to be rested under quarantine for 3-5 days before the tournament. Also, they will undergo RT-PCR tests for three times. They will be tested for Covid everyday till their quarantine period, and if they resulted negative in all the tests, then they will be completely released from quarantine and are allowed to progress their activities. Meanwhile, the organisers of the IPL will also be tested for Covid.
To practise the match, the teams would be reaching the venues via a special green corridor and they are permitted to use the Eastern Freeway, to reach Navi Mumbai or Thane from South Mumbai. The IPL league will be held in Mumbai Pune. As announced by the officials, it is subjected to allow 25% visitors at the respective venues.
