TS requests Centre to provide Rs 1,000 crore for flood relief

On Wednesday, the Telangana government solicited the Centre to provide Rs 1,000 crore as immediate aid towards flood relief to the state by sending a report to it about the losses faced by the state ascribing to recent heavy rains and floods. The report reads a loss of about Rs 1,400 crore was suffered by various departments. 

The CMO office said the Centre has been urged to provide Rs 1,000 crore as immediate aid. Several roads and causeways were washed away in the floods. The Rodas and Buildings department suffered a loss of Rs 498 crore. 

The losses of the Panchayat Raj department were estimated at Rs 449 crore. A loss of Rs 379 crores was suffered by the Municipal Administration Department, while the Irrigation department faced a loss of Rs 33 crore and the Electricity department faced a loss of Rs 7 crore.

According to authorities, inundation of houses and shifting of people from flood-hit areas due to house collapses, led to a loss of Rs 25 crore extra.
