Vikram is a Tamil-language film that hit the screens in all the South Indian languages today. It has the talented trio, Kamal Haasan, Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil in the prominent roles. Let’s see how these big shots gained the audiences’ minds.

Story :

A container with full of drugs goes missing in Chennai. These drugs are owned by Vijay Sethupathi, who played as Santhanam and he is widely disturbed with this robbery. An undercover police, Fahadh Faasil, who played as Amar enters into the situation to deal with this case. Amar, through his investigation, finds out that this robbery and well known killings by a masked man in the city are connected to a drunkard Kamal Haasan, who played as Karnan. And the rest of the story determines who is Karnan? What is his backstory and how is he involved in this huge mafia setup?

Review :

First of all, the plot of the film is quite interesting to watch and enjoy the suspense thrillers throughout it. The trio Kamal Haasan, Fahadh Faasil and Vijay Sethupathi’s performance make the audience to hook with the screens. Fahadh Faasil has an influential role, with which he impresses the viewers with his true emotions in the film. While Vijay Sethupathi played as a mafia don. His confrontation episode with Fahadh Faasil and Kamal Haasan is marvellous. Whereas, Kamal Haasan amuses audience with his outstanding performance in the second half. But, his role in the first half is rare. The main character Kamal Haasan is seen only for 10 minutes, and so, the film moves slow-pace during the first half. Also, the story narration in the first half is not detailed.

Technical Aspects :

Obviously, the music and Background score are fantastic. Cinematography done by Girish Gangadharan is clean and neat, especially the dark themes in the film. Dialogues delivered by the leads are highly intensified. The production design is good and the style in which hero Suriya enters the screen has beautifully shown. The director has done justice to the roles of all three actors with equal importance. He connected some sequences of Vikram to Kaithi film, which features Karthi. And finally, editing works has also gained good marks.

Plus Points :

*Story

*Second half

*Music and BGM

*Cinematography

*Connected scenes of Kaithi

Minus Points :

*First half

*Unclear narration

Overall Review :

Excluding the slow-paced first half and unclear narration at the beginning of the story, remaining all the elements showcased in the film are top-notch. And, the Telugu dubbed version is also quite impressive.

Rating : 3/5
