On Tuesday, the World Health Organization said that it would supply thousands of HIV antiretroviral drugs to Ukraine to fulfill the needs of HIV patients in the country for the following twelve months. Ukrainian officials and other partners, along with the United States President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief have acquired 2,09,000 packs of generic antiretroviral drug LTD.
Before the Russian assault, Ukraine was the second-largest country in Europe containing approximately 2,60,000 HIV patients after Russia. As Ukraine is the country that remained with less than a month’s supply of drugs for HIV sufferers, the UN Agency for HIV/AIDS warned the country in the previous month.
The Regional Manager for WHO Europe, Hans Henri P.Kulge said, “This conflict has the potential to resolve the strict progress of recent years on a number of health complications, along with HIV. We could not let that take place when Ukraine had commenced reciprocating on HIV.”
WHO said that the 1st batch of HIV drugs has far-fetched the polish border into Ukraine and is about to be transported to HIV service availabilities throughout the nation. Antiretroviral drugs can regulate the virus and eliminate onward sexual spread to other people, as there is no cure for HIV. Any delay in treatment will result in complications as well as drug capacity.
