Alert! Don’t carry more than Rs 50k

Election Code is in vogue in Telangana and people should exercise caution while carrying money and valuables. Election Commission announced the schedule for Assembly elections on Oct 9, Monday and stressed that Election Code will be implemented immediately since the announcement of schedule.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said that strict measures will be taken to curb the use of money and other undue influences used by political parties to impress voters. As a result, wide range of checks will be done on the movement of cash, valuables and liquor.

Already police have formed separate teams to check the movement of cash and liquor. According to Election Code rules, anyone carrying more than Rs 50,000 cash should show receipts and proofs for the money. This is applicable to not just contesting candidates or political party members but even to general public.
